So many of us have spent a little extra time in the kitchen over the past couple months with the stay at home orders flooding across the country. One thing that we realized is that a lot of people had a sudden hankering for banana bread!

It’s sour cream!
Yup, that’s right. We put sour cream in our banana bread and it’s SO good. It enhances the texture and adds the slightest tang making it a perfect blend of flavors. We promise you’ll go back for a second slice!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mashed very ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cream butter, sugar and eggs.
- Sift the dry ingredients and combine with butter mixture.
- Blend well; add the bananas, sour cream and vanilla; stir well.
- Add in the nuts and gently stir.
- Pour into a well buttered 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
- Bake for 1 hour.
- Turn out onto a rack to cool.
